THE TINY HOUSE GENERATION

7:54 AM

Years are passing by and the tiny house trend seems to gain more strength with millennials tired of paying more than half of their income in rent in order to live in the city. If you don't know much about tiny houses, what are you doing with your life?
The tiny house movement is based on going through life without having to pay the high price tag in mortgage or rent as well as enjoying a more minimalistic lifestyle. I find it interesting that the movement is becoming so popular because it portrays our momentum. If you live in Seattle, Portland or San Francisco you know that the rent is absolutely outrageous with less and less people being able to pay for it and consequently moving in with their parents.
Talking about Portland, the state figures as second when it comes to best places to own a tiny house, only losing to California.

When it comes to types of tiny houses, there are two: A tiny house that is on wheels which is considered an RV and a tiny house built on a foundation which is called an accessory dwelling unit. If you have the wheels version you need to register as an RV and then you can park it at camping or RV sites, these places usually tell you for how long you can stay there, which means you can't stay permanently. It's important to mention that the majority of states prohibit for people to treat the tiny houses as a full-time residence in places that are not RV parks so you can see the problem. If you decide to park your tiny house in a neighborhood and someone complains, you get kicked out of the neighborhood. Learn more about tiny house zoning regulations here.

I found the tiny house below on pinterest, and it became my absolute favorite. Just type in tiny houses in the search bar you'll be impressed by the results!
